Byrds Go Nuts

Okay, our whole family just watched the men's 4x100 meter medley relay, featuring the unbelievable Michael Phelps and all those other dudes who aren't nearly as famous but every bit as important to this history-making race.  Did you see it?  It was so cool.  It wasn't the same photo finish as Phelps' last race when he out-touched the silver medalist by one one-hundredth of a second.  One . . . one-hundredth . . . of one second.  We had to really break that one down for Caroline last night to help her understand just what a narrow margin that is.

But tonight was the big moment of history.  Those boys dug it out in the pool to win the gold medal, set a world record, AND help Phelps win his eighth gold medal in these Olympic Games, breaking the record held by Mark Spitz since 1972.

We whooped, we hollered, there was dancing and rejoicing.  I just love the Olympics.
